happy birfday to us! We're 24 today! XD I'm going to Mom's on the 1:00 bus, so I really should be taking a shower and crap. ^_^;; But at least I already bought Meg a present - and I know she likes it, cos I paid for her copy of FF8. XD

Poor Mom sprained her back today. ;_; The funny bit is, ze Mommy, she is just a bit stoned right now. XD I called to check up on her, and she talked and talked and talked about the meds and how her back was and how she'd had to double dose, etc. - and she NEVER talks about things like that. XD "And I was going to get you a little vacuum cleaner for your birthday, but now I can't and . . . " " . . . S'ok, Mom, you can pay for sk.com instead, ok? o_o;;"
You KNOW she's stoned if she's talking about presents before the fact. XD

o_o I have to go to the pharmacy before work and they don't open until 9:00. It's a good thing that they're like, half a block from the bus station, yes? XD I'm going to take this next bus and get there when they open, since I don't need to be on a bus to Work until 9:40 at the latest and this one gets in at 9:05. XD
Meg, do you have my green sweater or know where it's at? ;_; I can't find it.

Kristyn, WHERE did your mother find those postcards? XD~ I must have more. <3 And did you ever get the one we sent you? Need to get more of those. XD
Also came home with over 50 Neels from the Post Office - eBay is evilevilevil. <3 So now i have just about half of the books that she's written, not counting Brit editions. <3 <3 <3 Some happy day, I will move to England and collect all of her stuff there that I can find, just like I will move to Japan for the fun t0ys. <3

Right. So saw Jean today and got pre-natal vitamins - teg and not!teg mess with your folate levels to start and all sorts of other lovely things, so they tend to like women who take them to take pre-natal vitamins to cover that (besides the fact that they're just good to take ANYWAY), had the fastest PAP smear in the history of the world - "this will pinch, ok, everything looks good, we're done! <3" and am now fighting the insurance company over birth control. AGAIN. "Dammit, this is MEDICAL, not recreational!" -_-; Never fails to amaze me that the same company that will pay for a $20,000 op without batting an eyelash throws a bitch-fit over paying $50 a month for birth-control, seeing as if I were to get pregnant they'd have to pay for a high-risk pregnancy and delivery. >_<** That, and I'm not USING it for birth-control, dammit, it's for PCOS. -_-; Nice side-benefit being that it IS birth-control, but that's not the main reason I'm using it. -_-;
... and that was too much information, I know, but dammit, it's my blog and I'll TMI if I want to. XD

.... well. We can't be feeling TOO awful after Our shots if We're back on top of the cupboards again. XD
Posted by amy @ 11:01 PM PST [Link]
Back from the place of Evile Cat Haters, and Shouko's had her first set of shots. <3 She didn't howl at all on the way there, which was a shock after the Boys and the way they would CRRRRRRRRY the whole way there and back, and was only bitchy about the second shot, which she knew was coming. XD Was very good in the waiting room and on the way home, and now she's sitting on my shoulder and has hhad Tuna Treats for being such a Good Girl. She's due back in a month for her second set of shots and her spay. <3 Yay, no more cat howling soon. XD
Vet said she was about nine months, which is about what I thought, and she only weighs 5 lb. 11 oz. O__O;;; Meg's monster weighs THREE TIMES that, or just about. XD

Dammmmit, where are my glasses at? I can barely see anything that's closer than about 4 feet - that's what I get for being farsighted AND cross-eyed -_-;; - and I need my bloody glasses to FIND my bloody glasses. XO I remember taking them off and sticking them on the phone table cos they were foggy after I got back here last night, but now they've run away. ;_; Maybe when Mom comes to take Kitty's To Get Shots and Other Mean Things, she'll help look. XD

Amy: *gets home from post office, Wal*Wart, wonders idlely where cat is*
Amy: *checks usual spots*
Amy: *walks into kitchen, looks up*
Shouko: *stares down from top of cupboards over fridge*
Amy: .... Do I want to know how you got up there? Didn't think so. o_o;;
Meg: *on phone* Your cat, she is a FRUIT.
Amy: :P And YOUR cat isn't?
Thanks for the card, Ian. XD

... did you know that it is almost impossible to type with a cat on your lap? Even if it is a small, mostly cute tabby. o_o;; You are SO in the way, brat. XD
Yeah. So, the DAKARA story. I bought a h00j bottle of DAKARA, which is this vaguely lemon flavored drink along the lines of Calpis and the others like it. XD The main reason that I bought a h00j bottle instead of one that didn't quailify for weight lifting was because there was a TOWEL HANGER attached to the bottle.
Amy: SQUEEEEEEE!
Meg: ......
Amy:SQUUEEEEE! There's the matching towel on that other bottle, but I wanna be able to WALK and EAT and pay for a CAB and these are $5 a pop. <3
Meg: ........... One would hope. o.o;;
So we get back to the table, everyone squeals obliging at me towel hanger, and a bit later, I look at it again.
Amy: .... OMG, did you SEE that?
SwC: ........ The little churub is weeing. On the PACKAGE.
Amy: .... Did you see here his hand is? XD
Rest of Table: *dies laughing, towel hanger gets passed around again*
Doug: .... did you see the back? The whole FAMILY is drinking DAKARA and weeing! XD
I'll scan the package here in a bit when I'm slight more coherant, but it was just about the funniest thing of the day, right up with the "We're SLASHERS, we don't CARE about exit only! XD" comment. <3 Fun day. <3

Meg and I managed to to trip out one of my students today - I'd TOLD her that I had a twin, but she Didn't Believe Me until she saw Meg. XD
Student: O___O;; OMG. There's TWO of you!
Amy, Meg: .... Yes? XD
Student: ...... O___o;;;
Amy: It's ok, dear, we're really not clones - we just look like it. XD
To top it off, one of the other tutors spayed a can of Lysol and just about sent three other people to the ER with breathing problems, and then the fire alarm went off a couple of hours later. -_-;; One of the ovens in the caf blew up, from all reports, and Jack in the espresso bar claims to be the one who pulled the alarm. XD~ It's a running joke that 99.5% of the time, if the alram goes off, it's most likely nothing to worry about. OTOH, it's 0.5% that you have to be careful with. I hate the strobe lights and alarms, though. -_-;; We decided that there needs to be someone who's Job it is to check the bathrooms, since they all have the older, louder and more obnoxius alarms that are major triggers - and there's two people in the center that we know of with seizures. The last time I was in a place that used the older ones like that, I endded up in the ER. -_-;;

NOTE to self: See if I can get appointment w/Nadine to get nails shaped since I'll be stuck in CG with appointment w/Jean anyway. o_o
.... I'm a reforming nail-biter and one of the problems I'm having with growing my nails out is that I can't shape them right myself. Nadine said that she charges $5 to shape and polish natural nails, so why not? XD It'll kill the time between my 11:50 appintment with the NP and the 4:30 bus back to Eugene, if nothing else. XD

Garrett, if offer still stands and Mom can't give us a ride, Shouko has appointments on the 17th of this month for shots and on the 14th of March for more shots and to get Fixed at Cat Care Limited on Willamette. XD The place you were talking about wanted $115 for the op itself and $35 for the pre-op, whereas these guys are charging $50 ($25 a pop, twice - it's $12 for just the distemper) for both sets of shots - distemper and FLV - and $50 TOTAL for the op. o_o; I think I'll go with them, yes? XD Let me know on Y! or call me back. XD

eBay is bad, bad crack. XD Just got my first batch of Neels books in the mail, and now I'm going to drown in sauve Dutch Doctors for a while. <3
... wha? At least I don't have to THINK with her, other than how many pounds to the dollar, how many pounds I'm going to GAIN reading her descriptions of f00d, and vague medical terms that I mostly know anyway. XD
I love Betty Neels. XD

Damn soundtrackers. Kyou won't stop singing Kissed By A Rose OR Everlong, and Alice is singing the techno mix of Silence. Dammit, Meg, I'm not allowed any of your mix CDs anymore. The Voices like them too much, and the not!Teg isn't helping any. -_-;; Need to fix Sunao so her burner works again, but that means digging up my Win98 CD and reinstalling. o_o Maybe when I'm not a walking zombie, yes? .... that's an oxymoron. XD
In other, non-medicated news, I reserved the two new Pokemon games at Target today, because I am just that kind of slore, and the cat is in heat again/still. Need to get her to a vet to Take Care of the problem, but a) have you ever taken a cat on a bus before? and b) need to find a vet. Oh, well.

Yeah. So, Shithead has a new body re: Meg's blog, and right now she's INSULTING my cat. ;_;
Meg: Cos it's so much FUN to insult *cough* FLUFFY tabby girls. <3
Amy: >_<** She is NOT fluffy OR fat, thankyouverymuch.
Meg: ........... Whatever. XD
Went to CostCo where I got foodish-snacky stuff and Broken Sword : The Shadow of the Templars for GameBoy Advance cos I couldn't RESIST the title and it was $14, and then while Mom sparkled at patio doors at Home Depot, Meg and I went to Wally*World.
Random Guy: Want a Tootsie Roll?
Twins: .... No thanks.
Meg: *co*--HIGH--*ff*
Amy: *dies laughing*
Meg got FF9, so tonight we're having a fangirl night with our new games, and Meg is torcuring the cat. <3

Just got off the phone with the insurance company, to check how much we
would have to pay out-of-pocket for the VNS. We were expecting upwards
of $2000-$5000, but as Mom put it, it'd be worth EVERY penny, and they'd
pay for it because they loved me and wanted me to have the best chance
possiable.
Lady @ Blue Cross: After $5000, we pay 100%, so if you have a prefered
provider and facility, you'd pay your $200 deducable and 10% of the $5000.
Amy: ........ that's ... $700? *___*
L@BC: That could vary, but it wouldn't be much more than that.
THIS IS A $20,000 PROCEDURE. $700 is NOTHING compared to that. *______*
Even with the Medicare deducibles, I doubt that we'll have to pay more
than $1500 at TOPS.
Oh. My. GOD.
*bounces off*

... There was a guy on Feline-L a while ago whose cat would bring Not Quite Dead rodents and lay them hopefully at his feet.
Guy: .....
Cat: .......... *hopefully* Meow?
Guy: ..................
He tried just about everything to get the damn cat to stop bringing these things into the house, and nothing helped. Then one day the lightblub went on - the cat was trying to teach him to hunt. XD So the next time the cat brought in a NQDR, he picked it up with his mouth, shook it a few times and then gargled with an entire bottle of Listerine.
Cat: !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! PUUUURRRRRRRRR~~~~~! You FIGURED IT OUT~~~~! MY SLOW KITTEN FINALLY GOT IT~~~~!
Guy: ..............................
But the cat never brought in another one, so it worked. XD

.oO(is it fun to sleep on laps while I'm trying to type and shed on my suit skirt, cat? XD)
You know how when the cat Loves You they bring small dead rodents and leave them at the front doorstep, because the CAT thinks that they're giving you something absolutely wonderful? Same idea applies to small children who give their moms Barbie's and Matchbox cars and SO's who take their wives to college basketball games on their birthdays. XD Cecil won tickets to the Oregon/Stanford game at work - and they're IMPOSSIBLE to get, btw - and since it's Mom's Birthday And He Loves Her, he took her to the game tonight. She tried to talk him out of it - "Wouldn't it be more FUN if you went with one of your friends? O_O;;", but it is Her Birthday, and he wants to DO Something With Her, so off they went to the game tonight. XD Poor Mom, but what a Dead Mouse. XD
So. Neuro appointment. She was indeed amazed at my ability to pick up EVERY exotic side-effect in the book - Lamictal and Keppra are USUALLY well tolerated -_-;; - and now we're trying Carbatrol, which basically amounts to Tegretol : The Next Generation. It's the same drug (carbamazepine - say THAT three times fast XD), but a different formulation that doesn't seem to have as bad of side-effects, memory or otherwise. But then, at this point, I'll pick being a flake over not being able to walk ANYday, thanks. Have to get a blood level not this Monday, but the next, and if I start feeling drunk without the benefit of b00z3, I'm to get it checked PRONTO. I never got any of the truly narly side-effects of Tegretol like liver damage, so I don't think it'll be that big of a deal.
RE: VNS - the rep had to leave early, so she'll be calling me instead. Edmonds asked me what I thought of the idea, I told her that the reserch I'd done didn't give me any reason NOT to get one tommorrow, and she gave me the spiel about '"it's NOT a cure-all, and it IS a $20,000 op", I told her I knew that, and then she said that she'd noticed in her practice that People With Higher Intelligence Tended To Do Better with them, and she'd noticed that I was a Smart Girl. XD So. Now all that really remains is to see what the insurance companies think about the idea, basically. Have another appointment on the 10th of March and will most likelly finalize things then. <3 Keep fingers crossed. XD

I hate the phrase 'failed a medication'. I DID NOT fail the med, IT failed ME. It sounds like you're blaming yourself for something that's not your fault. But that's a rant for later when I've had more sleep and not just had my fourth seizure for the day. <3 *wanders off to crash on couch*

*at Mom's for the night*
*crosses fingers, toes, etc.*
Appointment with the neuro tomorrow RE: VNS, and I am SO nervous, I could just about climb the walls. o_o;; I'm wearing my suit tomorrow, so at least I LOOK like I know what I'm talking about. G'ma lent me a scarf that matches perfectly, too. XD
.... the thing you have to understand is, this is the first time in TWENTY-THREE YEARS that we've heard of something that might work. We looked into the surgery my senior year of high school, found a lovely spot of brain damage, thought that that was the cause of the seizures and that we could take care of it - and that wasn't it. They're too generalized, meaning they take place all over the brain. I've tried SEVEN different meds, get just about every bad side-effect in the book - SEE: Lamictal and Keppra Inciedent - and no control over the seizures. If you fail three meds, there's only a 10% chance you'll find one that works, and, well, Keppra made #7. I haven't heard anything bad about it, and they say it's riskier to get your tonsils out than have a VNS installed - and we had thought about BRAIN SURGERY. It doesn't get any riskier than that, you know? Plus the effects on mood and depression since I can't take anti-depressants with AEDs - they Don't Mix - and general alertness, etc. says that there's no reason NOT to go for it. The neoro seems to think I'm a good canidate for it - SHE brought it up, we didn't think it'd work for me - and if everyone agrees, I'd go in tomorrow, if I had the option. As it is, I'm repeating the Lord's Prayer over and over, especially the "Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done" bit.
Prayers, good vibes, happy thoughts?

o_o;; I went to lay down for a bit at about 7:00, and woke up at 4:30. Haven't done THAT for a while, but I guess I needed the sleep? Eh heh heh.
Dug through the massive pile of books at my St Vinnie's, and came out the victor of FOUR Betty Neels - two early 80's, one reprint, and one from '95, none of which I've read yet. <3 <3 <3 Also found two books by Tiffany White (perky!pr0n XD), a late 80's Tempation by Barbara Delinsky (.... I wonder how much I could get for it on eBay?), an OLD Stephine James (pen name of Jayne Ann Krentz way back when she wrote for Silloutte XD), and a random book in Tagalog. <3 <3 <3 Oh, and found two Pikachu clear files and talked the guy into giving them to me for a quarter a piece. XD
10 books @ $0.29 ea. = $2.90
2 clear files @ $0.25 ea. = $0.50
TOTAL damage = $3.40 <3
I love thrift shops. <3

It's been two years today since I signed the lease for this apartment. o_o Longest I've lived in one place since high school. XD That first month I had it, I paid $625 to move in on an income of about $875, and Did Not Eat that month. Literally. XD But it was SO worth it, after six adults in a three bedroom doublewide. o_o;
... and the cat just petted my face. As in, reached up with her paw and stroked my cheek. o_o; Gabe did that once - must be a tabby thing. XD

*rewatching Fushigi Yuugi for the first time in about two years*
... I forgot how much I loved this series. XD XD XD FY was the first full series that Meg and I watched - marathoned it and the Ah! My Goddess! OVA in one very sleep-deprived winter break in 97/98. XD Miaka still drives me up the wall, but the !genderchecks~! And Hori! And Tama! And Nuriko! XD I'm watching it and seeing after it all fits with her newer stuff - like how Kyou really is Tama in Hori's body. XD The very first yaoi/shounen-ai I read was Kouji kisses Tasuki, for that matter. XD And now that I have half a clue to what I'm listening to, I never realized just how much Tama talks like a punk. Which he is, but at the time, I didn't know enough or know the speech patterns well enough to to tell. XD The boy uses 'ome-ra', for pete's sake. XD
